WHAT IS BMATL?

Black Microschools ATL is a collective of non-traditional K-12 education providers- co-ops, homeschools, hybrid schools, learning pods, microschools, tiny schools- that serve predominantly African American children using a curriculum that celebrates African American culture and African Americans' national and global contributions.

part-time learning community with individual classes taught by parents and other experts

Homeschooling in GA

According to Georgia’s home study law, parents who wish to homeschool their child should:

  1. Have a high school diploma or GED.
  2. Submit annually a declaration of intent to homeschool to the Georgia Department of Education by Sept 1st or within 30 days of establishing your homeschool.
  3. Teach the required subjects and no less than 180 days each year.
    1. English Language Arts
    2. Mathematics
    3. Reading
    4. Science
    5. Social Studies
  4. Have their child participate in standardized testing every three years after third grade. Keep records of such tests.
